Garden Makeover
This garden was all lawn and the sunniest spots had a shed and an over-sized raised bed in it. Our design retained some lawn for play, brought in colour, introduced wildlife habitat alongside food growing and created a place to sit in the sun. We made use of the boundaries and vertical spaces to get the most from the site. Birds, hedgehogs, frogs and newts all returned.

One year later
A vibrant garden with various potted flowers, plants, and shrubs. A patio area with a wooden table and chairs is visible on the left, and a lattice fence with greenery in the background. Bright flowers, including yellow, red, and purple blooms, are scattered throughout the garden.
Restoration of a front garden
The front garden of this house had been paved over entirely. The brief was to retain enough space to park a car with the rest given over to food production and wildlife habitat. The budget was not large and we aimed to recycle as much waste as possible. A permaculture design approach was used for this project and the end result spoke for itself, a great success and very productive.
Before work commenced
Paved driveway with wheelbarrow near red brick house
Blocks awaiting recycling
Excavating the raised bed
Using waste rock to make a herb spiral
Garden ready for planting
Apple cordons and support structures
First year's growth
Wildflowers for the pollinators
Garden Rejuvenation
The clients wanted more colour, interest, social space and a bit more wow from their garden. We created a design that added more generous borders, a long flowering season, winter interest, structure, new places to sit and separation in the garden to create defined spaces. Lots of variety in colour, beautiful fragrance and plentiful food for pollinators. We’ll revisit this garden to ensure it beds in and continue planting in the autumn, it will look fantastic once the plants take off and fill the spaces.
